Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are apparently required to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling den, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that contains a number of amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
