Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that highlights numerous luxuries on top of the casino, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
