Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
