Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, contains 150 one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features numerous comforts on top of the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
