Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
